Dr robin edwards, obstetrician and gynaecologist, singapore

About me

I am an experienced consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist working at the Raffles Women's Centre at Raffles Hospital in Singapore.

I work closely with medical and non medical colleagues and value the efficiency of the teams I work with.

I trained in the UK, qualifying from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2006. I completed my postgraduate training in the north east of England and then specialist postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology in London and Kent.

I worked as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at a large NHS hospital in the UK for 8 years prior to relocating with my family to Singapore.

I enjoy all aspects of women's health and have a particular interest in colposcopy and minimally invasive surgery.

I look after women throughout their pregnancy journey and provide obstetric services only at Raffles Hospital.

My Philosophy

In my practice I try to ensure that my patients are well informed of their diagnosis and treatment options. I maintain up-to-date knowledge in my field so that I can advise on the most appropriate treatment.

I believe every patient should have access to the best medical advice that is available. By providing services within the Raffles Medical Group, I am able to refer to colleagues in other specialties and jointly manage patients who have complex needs. I do not recommend unnecessary treatments or investigations, and do not perform surgery unless there is likely to be significant benefit from doing so. Discussion in clinic will always include the risks and benefits of any treatment course.

My approach is flexible to those needs and I am happy to consult in person, by telephone and correspond by email for patients who are unable to get to the clinic, perhaps if they live overseas or travel frequently.

The clinic is set up to allow full assessment of patients with ultrasound and routine investigations to hand. Within the Women's Centre is a procedure room for minor procedures such as colposcopy and IUCD insertion. There is a well stocked pharmacy dispensary staffed by knowledgeable staff who are ready to advise and counsel patients on their medications.

By providing this comprehensive service, we are able to meet the needs of patients who require timely care without unnecessary additional appointments or waiting times.
